mo wax classics
In 2006, Island Records planned a vinyl reissue campaign featuring a selection of classic Mo' Wax releases. Although a number of titles were manufactured and pressed, the project was ultimately cancelled before reaching commercial release. As a result, these records remained largely unknown outside collecting circles until copies gradually began appearing on the secondary market several years later.
Unlike the original releases, which often featured elaborate artwork, obi strips and multiple packaging variations, the reissue series adopted a deliberately uniform presentation. All 12-inch records were housed in die-cut brown card sleeves, sealed when new with an identifying sticker. The inside of each sleeve was printed with repeating black-and-white Mo' Wax logos arranged around vinyl groove motifs, creating a distinctive but understated design that referenced the label's visual heritage while maintaining a consistent identity across the series.
The combination of an unreleased status, limited quantities and unique packaging has made these records highly sought after by collectors.
